2 paragraphs about BlackBeard

BlackBeard was a notorious pirate who terrorised the Caribbean seas on his boat the Queen Anne’s Revenge. Some people think that he was born in 1680 and that his real name is Edward Teach. His pirating career began in 1716 when he started to strike terror in the hearts of the Americas colonies by staling drugs,sugar and gold.

He had shaggy black hair and had a crazy appearance. He called himself a ruthless person. He was strapped with knifes and pistols . As he was a pirate he liked to wear scruffy cloths.

Canterbury Earthquake

Canterbury Earthquake 
On Saturday morning at 4am there was a earthquake that happened in Christchurch. People say that the measurement of the earthquake was 7.1 on the Richer Scale. The earthquake was 10km below the ground. The people in Christchurch were shocked that an earthquake had hit them.

The earthquake caused lots of damage. It destroyed 100 000  houses, so that meant that there was no power because the power cables were broken down from all of the destruction. There was also no clean water to drink. From all of the house that collapsed the place was littered with bricks and rubble.There were massive cracks in the ground.

The earthquake caused many dangers for the people of Canterbury. Some people came to put the power back on but  the power went of again. The sewage pipes were broken as well so people had to boil their water before they drank it all around the place.

Making Chocolate Chip Cookies

In the weekend on Saturday night we made chocolate chip cookies. My brother and I were going to do most of the work. First we got all of the ingredients and the things we needed to put the ingredients in. My brother was excited about making the cookies but I was excited about eating them after we made them.
First we got the the mix and put it in with 1/2 a cup of water and then put in 1/4 of oil. My brother and I were mixing and we wondered why it wasn’t sticky. It wasn’t sticky because we forgot to put in the egg. We were laughing. So we put in the egg and it went normal how it was supposed to be.
After we mixed it we were now going to put some of the mixture on a spoon and make it into a ball and then we could put it into a baking tray. Finally we were ready to put our cookies in the oven. So my Mum preheated the oven and put them in.
In about 15 minutes our chocolate chip cookies were ready. We all got to have two each to eat. I like making cookies but the BEST bit was eating them.

Cross Country Day Is Finally Here

The whole school went to the court waiting for Cross Country. My legs were shaking starting to make me cold and my fingers were starting to get a bit numb. We were in our house colours. The house colours are TAKITIMU(yellow),TE ARAWA, (Red)TANUI (Blue) and MATATUA (green). My house colour was TAKITIMU (yellow)!!!

“10 year old come up onto the start line ready for your race” announced Mr Burt. Some of us were nervous. The clappers went bang and we went. We were all clumped together as some people were sprinting fast to get ahead of the bunch. When we were starting to spread out we left a couple people behind.
During the run I was trying not to stop like how champions never give up. It was really muddy, so muddy that I almost got stuck in it. It was squishing through my toes. As I went past Mrs Squires she was taking videos of people. I was hoping that she wouldn’t take a video of me.

Before I knew it I was getting closer to the finish line. With a burst of speed I was starting to sprint a little bit faster. As I was close to the finish line I could hear lots of people clapping and cheering for me. I was happy that my run was over. I had to quickly go and wash my feet and watch the other people run. I had fun doing that run. I tried my hardest so I was happy with my self.

Our Groups Movie

For a week or 2 our class has been working on a movie. The movie was about our mariner that we were learning about. We had to get into groups of three. My groups mariner was Zheng He(Cheng Ho). Here is my groups movie I hope you enjoy watching it.Thanks for watching

Our Trip To The Maritime Museum

Have you ever been to the Maritime Museum?Well I have been there.Our whole class went to there with room 14 and 18. We went to the Maritime Museum because our topic that we were learning about this term is about ships and Mariners. We got to the museum by bus.

As soon as we got to there we were going to have a tour with Salty Sam. He was going to give us a guided tour around the Museum . While he was taking us around I saw lots of miniature ships that were in glass cages and I could also saw some ships that people used to sail on. There were also ships that people just made and put in the museum Lots of the ship were stitched together. One part of the tour was when we went in the immigrant ship cabin. Their there were bunks and things that they used for there food and water. While we were on the ship we were gently rolling.

After we went in he ships cabin we went to another ship Salty Sam told us steer the wheel but he kept on saying “No that's Wrong”. we were all puzzled and confessed because we didn’t know what we did wrong. We failed abysmally because we were looking the wrong way. We
were looking backwoods.

After we went on the tour with Salty Sam we were going to watch a movie. As soon as we got into to the room it was pitch dark like a movie theatre. We sat on wooden seats Ms Squires was out side trying to close the doors but the doors were automatic. Luckily Ms Squries snuck in at the nick of time. It was pitch black when the doors closed. It had a circular room that had three massive screens. I was ready to watch the movie. Finally the movie started.

On the first bit of the movie they said good bye to there family because they were going to sail away to another land. They knew where they were going because the stars,whales and the sun was showing them the right directions to go.
My favorite bit of the trip was when we went on the Ferry to Davenport and back. We were all outside on the deck clinging to the rails, with the wind in our faces. We were watching the water with all of the bubbles in it. We went speeding over a few bumps. As soon as we had finished our ride on the Ferry we were getting ready to go home on the bus.

My 10th Birthday

"Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you" said my brother while I was snuggled in my blankets. I started to open my eyes when I said cheerfully "Yes it's my birthday today," as I was yawning. I threw back my covers and ran down to where the sitting room was. I was watching TV with my brother until I heard the phone ring. I said hello and then someone sang back to me, it sounded like my Nana. She was singing "happy birthday to you happy birthday to you"
I was right it was my Nana. We talked for a little while and then I had to hang up because I had to get ready to go out because my dad was taking me shopping. My dad dropped by and picked up me and my brothers for my birthday outing.
We were going to the movies to watch Karate Kid. We were waiting in line until we saw that The Karate Kid was sold out. I had been really looking forward to watching the movie but I had fun looking around shops and I was lucky enough to get a game for my Nintendo. I gave my dad a big to thank him for the presents and the awesome birthday he gave me!
